Dark Fibre is often described as an “extremely long patch lead” that connects between your network equipment in different remote locations, often tens of kilometres apart.

Dark Fibre is a dedicated, point-to-point, optical fibre connection with unrestricted data transmission capacity that enables you to build your own high performance network.

Your Dark Fibre link has no third party carrier equipment between your end points and therefore gives you maximum Performance, Security and Reliability.

Hyperscale - Global Cloud Service Provider

When one of the world’s largest Cloud Service providers wanted to link together two of their Data Centres with a private hyperscale Dark Fibre network they found the solution they needed with Luminet.

Luminet designed, built and now supports a 16km, fully diverse, dual-path, network with a capacity for more than 34,000 fibres which provides dedicated fibre cross-connect capability between the two sites.

The deployment required Luminet to overcome many engineering and commercial challenges including dealing with multiple councils, road authorities and private land owners. The project was successfully delivered to tight timeframes, exacting standards and complex project co-ordination.

Hyperscale - Global Data Centre Operator

Luminet has delpoyed network infrastructure between four Data Centre sites for a Global Interconnection Operator that utilises the world’s largest commercial hyperscale optical fibre cable containing 6,912 fibres per cable.

The Luminet infrastructure provides over 21,000 fibres in a private, multi-path, Dark Fibre network that offers customer cross-connect capabilities between the end-point sites.

Multi-Fibre - Audi CBD Campus

When Audi established its brand new Vehicle Service Centre in Sydney, it needed a private fibre communications link to connect it to their existing company headquarters and showrooms located in separate buildings.

The link needed to be cost-effective, reliable, secure and have a high-bandwidth capability to handle all the current and future connectivity requirements for voice, data and CCTV security camera traffic.

Luminet designed and built a private Dark Fibre service between the Audi campus buildings which crosses public roads, pavements and a busy slip-road of the Sydney Eastern Distributor highway and continues to provide on-going support for the network with its 24x7 engineering team.

Multi-Fibre - Global IT Services Provider

When one of the world’s largest Technology companies needed a multi-fibre private network link between two of its Data Centres they approached Luminet to deploy a point-to-point Dark Fibre service between the two sites.

Luminet designed and built a completely dedicated link for the customer based around a high fibre count cable with multiple termination points along the pathway.

The design challenges included a motorway crossing, public roads, high security building entry points and complex internal building cable pathways and Luminet continues to support the network post-deployment with its 24x7 call-out engineering services.

A to B - Global Switch to Equinix

Luminet have built a 9.2km Dark Fibre network directly between the Global Switch Data Centre in Ultimo and the Equinix campus in Alexandria and Mascot in the Sydney metropolitan area.

The Dark Fibre network is owned 100% by Luminet andallows customers to directly communicate between their co-location equipment at the two sites or connect to other hosted services such as the Equinix IX Peering Portal.

The A to B Dark Fibre service can be leased by customers in single fibre-pair increments which makes the link highly cost-effective.

A to B - NBN Satellite Service Point-Of-Interconnect

Luminet were requested by an NBN RSP (Retail Service Provider) to supply a direct Dark Fibre connection to the NBN POI (Point of Interconnect) at Eastern Creek, NSW that houses the termination site for the NBN Sky Muster Satellite service.

Luminet leveraged its Facilities Access Agreement with NBN to deploy a termination point within the POI and offer single pair Dark Fibre backhaul links to local Data Centres for RSP Satellie Service traffic.
